The Behavioral Assessment Built for Everyone

Birkman provides individuals with a deeper understanding of their behavior, including what motivates them, what they need, how they naturally present themselves, and how they change when stress enters the system. Self-Awareness starts with Birkman.

What is Birkman?

Birkman is a scientifically developed organizational assessment that provides deep insight into the patterns behind human behavior. By revealing the relationship between your behaviors, needs, and stress responses, it helps you better understand yourself and others, unlocking more effective communication, stronger relationships, and more intentional performance. Not only is this used with students and teams, but we are also used to gain insight in hiring, career exploration, career transition, and encore careers.

Interests

Interests reflect what naturally motivates and engages a person. Highlighting the types of activities, roles, and environments they are drawn to and enjoy. These preferences energize behavior but do not necessarily indicate skill or ability.

Usual Behavior

Usual Behavior represents how a person typically shows up when they are comfortable and their needs are met. It is their effective, observable style for interacting with others and accomplishing tasks—the “best self” others commonly experience.

Needs

Needs are the underlying expectations a person has of their environment and relationships—what they require to stay motivated, productive, and satisfied. These drivers are often not visible to others but strongly influence behavior.

Stress Behavior

Stress Behavior emerges when those needs go unmet. It reflects a less effective or reactive style of behavior under pressure, often signaling frustration and providing insight into what a person is missing or needing.

Don't settle for a personality label

Birkman goes deeper than simple personality labels. It reveals what you need from your environment and others, how to naturally motivate you, and how stress affects you. We believe people are complex, and they shouldn't be reduced to a simple label.
