Want to Become a Birkman Advanced Certified Professional?
We offer Advanced status to Birkman Certified Professionals that meet the guidelines for that level. Birkman Certified Professionals should consult with Birkman to confirm eligibility and review requirements. To achieve the status as Birkman Advanced Certified Professional (BACP), you must:
- Be Birkman Certified for 2+ years
- Complete 25+ conversations
- Acquire 30+ hours of professional development through Birkman Learning Credits (BLCs) after Signature Certification. You can earn BLCs by participating in Birkman training, including:
- Mindset(20 BLCs)
- Birkman Learning Events(BLEs) (1 BLC per BLE)
- Attend Birkman Conference(20 BLCs)
- Part of your 30+ hours of professional development must be one of our Advanced training series classes. Each class is worth 16 BLCs. You can choose either:
Advanced Interpretation dives deeper into Components and, specifically, the interaction of several Component scoring patterns. The Components are explored in-depth from a social psychology context, with core emotional and rational factors identified. We also explore how the Components are identified on the Birkman Map, as well as natural pairings of Components that can be used to bring insight to the conversation when that “natural” pairing is broken.
The other option is Advanced Team Dynamics, where the focus is using Birkman data effectively with groups. More than just “team building,” this is a two-day opportunity to look at specific reports to use in team dysfunction, new leader assimilation, and conflict management with teams.

At the top of the Birkman Certified Professionals spectrum is our Master designation. These are individuals who have already met the requirements for Advanced Certification and have gone above and beyond in learning how to use The Birkman Method in very difficult, sensitive situations. Birkman Advanced Certified Professionals should consult with Birkman to confirm eligibility and review requirements. The requirements to be eligible for status as a Master Birkman Certified Professional (BMCP) include:
- Be Birkman Certified for 5+ years, or have a professional degree in a related field, such as an MS in Psychology or a Ph.D. in Education
- Complete 50+ Birkman conversations
- Acquire 50+ hours of professional development, which must be earned through Birkman Learning Credits (BLCs). You can earn BLCs by participating in Birkman training, including:
- Mindset(20 BLCs)
- Birkman Learning Events(BLEs) (1 BLC per BLE)
- Attend Birkman Conference(20 BLCs)
- Part of your 50+ hours of professional development must be obtained through our The Science Behind The Birkman Method, (16 BLCs), which dives deep into the psychology behind the instrument. This is a personal, small session with a former member of the Birkman research staff that will dive deep into the Components, patterns of scoring, and what some of these scales “really” mean. The workshop is an intensive, philosophical look at how Dr. Birkman created the instrument and how we can use that information in how we share reports with our clients.
